Dubai’s Rhods and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a major expansion of the Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall metro station, especially to adjust the rapidly growing number of passengers during the New Year’s Eve, holidays and other massive events.
The expansion declared officially on Sunday, 22 June is being done in collaboration with the developer, Emar Properties behind the prestigious Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall.
Extreme crowd preparations
One of the city’s busiest metro stations, the Burj Khalifa -Dbai Mall serves thousands of visitors daily and experiences significant crowd during festive duration and global programs. The employed upgrade will have to increase capacity, improve pedestrian flow and reduce waiting time.
A RTA spokesperson said, “This expansion reflects Dubai’s commitment to the world -class transport infrastructure that keeps the city’s rapid growth and global appeal.”
What is expected of detail
While detailed architectural plans have not been released yet, the project will be included:
Comprehensive platform and additional entry/exit points
Upgraded Concourse area to handle high leg traffic
Better connectivity for Dubai Mall and surrounding attraction
Increased access facilities for people of determination
An important step for future dynamics
This expansion comes as part of Dubai’s broad strategy to prefer public transport, reduce traffic congestion and support its goal of becoming one of the world’s most durable cities. With a steady increase in tourism and population numbers, the purpose of RTA and EMAAR is to ensure that the transit system remains efficient and safe for both residents and visitors.
