The authorities in Sharjah have apprehended a driver who displayed a blatant disregard for the law by resorting to deceitful tactics — he installed counterfeit license plates on his car in an effort to evade traffic monitoring systems.
But the falsehood didn’t last long. After conducting an investigation, authorities discovered a shocking amount of violations: 137 traffic offenses, Dh104,000 in unpaid fines, and a total of 308 black traffic points. Even more shocking, the motorist’s vehicle had been held in impoundment for over 764 days.
The arrest underscores the commitment of sharjah police to road safety and their utilization of cutting-edge technology to identify and apprehend individuals who endanger public safety. Altering a vehicle’s identification is a grave offense under UAE law, with severe repercussions that extend beyond monetary fines.
