Strides in road safety in the UAE is a growing concern as a new report states that deaths due to accidents have reduced by 91% over 17 years. Deaths per 100,000 people have reduced from 21.7 in 2007 to 1.8 in 2024.
The UAE is achieving success over the prevention of deaths for pedestrians using smarter infrastructure and public awareness campaigns as deaths of pedestrians have reduced from 9.5 to 0.3.
Deaths and serious injuries have also declined from being 36.2 to 4 which shows a positive movement towards a safer transport system.
In addition, the figure 4.2 deaths per 10,000 vehicles registered in the UAE has also improved to 0.45 showing that even with urban growth the UAE is successfully ensuring safety.
Policies, advanced road tech and a strong commitment to citizens have helped in achieving these goals.
