Dubai is reaching new heights as it starts awarding contracts for the construction of al maktoum international airport, which is expected to become the world’s largest airport once finished.
Sheikh ahmed bin saeed al maktoum, president of the dubai civil aviation authority, chairman of dubai airports, and the chairman and chief executive of emirates airline, confirmed that work has officially begun on the ambitious project, after his highness gave the go-ahead more than a year ago.
The airport, which is expected to transform the aviation industry, will have a final capacity of 260 million passengers, making it the largest airport in terms of passenger traffic. This monumental project comes with the backing of sheikh mohammed bin rashid al maktoum, vice-president, prime minister of the uae, and ruler of dubai, who approved the grand vision for al maktoum international.
