Imagine, if you will, an Emirates A350 landing on your street, then just minutes later, a cabin crew member arrives at your front door with a package. This observation is not from a futuristic science movie—Emirates has hinted at a new service for “Very Important Parcels” or V-I-Ps that is unlike anything anyone has seen before.
While uplifting, the Dubai-based airline did previously announce plans to parcel out freight on the same hands-on level as their esteemed clientele’s customer service. Per Emirates, this service will transform the dealing paradigms of classic customer aviation service by actually delivering the package to the customer’s door as well as treating each listed VIP parcel as, well, a VIP.
A Service That’s Already Making Waves. “We are breaking the bounds of commercial airline services; with the same service and care that has earned the airline global recognition.” Emirates had said in an announcement of when they were launching their new service: “We are transporting V-I-Ps (very important parcels) from door to door.”
The airline has immense pride in saying it has already bagged strong feedback after successful proof-of-concept trials and, claim that the new service was developed with few other key customers. Although everything is still vague, the message from the airline gives hints that the service will be made available in seven markets to start, with the hopes on being able to service the rest of the globe by the end.
A Potential Prank, or the Future of Luxury Delivery? This is the second thought that comes to mind after the first one of wondering whether this is simply another stunt by Emirates. And what makes this statement even more intriguing is the fact that the data proves this to be true; their past pranks include the “380- storey Emirates Residence”, which was set to contain its very own exclusive airport for residents partially opening construction by no later than February 31, 2025. In other cases, if you are puzzled please consider that the month of February only has 28 days.
Emirates has a habit of pulling pranks on unsuspecting readers in a deadpan manner that makes readers doubt the legitimacy of the announcement. And, is that VIP parcel delivery service yet another elaborate gag? Or does it mark the dawn of a parcel transportation revolution? Only time can tell.
The Big Question: Is It Real?
Even as some jest about receiving parcels from, “the friendly crew of flight 354”, others wonder if this is the start of a revolution in premium delivery services. After all, who wouldn’t find a personal flight attendant delivering a parcel to them utterly fascinating and extravagantly luxurious?
