A Bell 206 helicopter that took off on Thursday from Manhattan turned fatal when it crashed into the Hudson River, taking six lives onboard. These fatalities included three children. NTSB bound to start investigations on the case immediately confirmed that no flight data recorders were onsite.
In a statement earlier given by NTSB, they did not retrieve any black boxes from the wreckage which signals an absence of data capturing devices that could help in determining the cause of the helicopterβs doomed crash.
Lack of any kind of flight recorders means investigators will have a harder time trying to construct a timeline that revolves around the event leading to the incident. Making the investigation even more complicated, there is no surveillance footage and footage which heightens the suspension of the incident.
NTSB has given a statement claiming they have no recorded data or video, which means witnesses alongside maintenance logbooks are now the central basis on top of communication exchanged with the air traffic control.
The devastation felt by the community caused for concern regarding the regulations of civilian helicopters that operate and fly in urban areas of the city.
Moving ahead with the investigation, family members of the children along with other unworldly victims of the crash are now burdened with grief having having to deal with the aftermath of a calamitous incident.
