Sharjah Authorities Investigate Blaze in 52-Storey Residential Tower

Officials in Sharjah have ordered an inquiry into the reason behind the fire which occurred in a high-rise residential building on Sunday morning. The building houses over 1,500 residents of different nationalities.

At 11:31 am on Sunday, the Sharjah Police Operations Room received an emergency call stating that fire had engulfed one of the upper floor apartments in the 52 storey building. The building is located in a densely populated area and as expected, the tower became the focus of emergency attention.

Both the Sharjah Civil Defence and National Ambulance had already dispatched to the location, along with other emergency teams. As is standard, authorities within the area secured the zone, and cleared the emergency vehicle routes. Residents were evacuated and firefighters moved in order to put out the blaze.

No casualties have been reported so far. However, the source of the blaze and damage is still under investigation.

While further instructions are developed, officials are advising residents to stay composed and equipped with safety preparation.

The site is still being evaluated by the Sharjah Police and Civil Defense.
