The Rulers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) elected Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the president of the UAE. This decision was made by the rulers of the country’s seven sheikhdoms at a meeting held in Al Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi. After the demise of the former President, Khalifa bin Zayed AL Nahyan is the half-brother of sheikh khalifa bin Zayed AL Nahyan.

The United Arab Emirates observed three-day mourning with all the businesses shut across the country and performances halted in Sheikh Khalifa’s honor. The image of the late Sheikh Khalifa was shown on Electronic Billboards in Dubai and flags flew at half-mast. After the heart stroke, Sheikh Khalifa disappeared from public view in 2014 and Sheikh Mohammed had been serving the United Arab Emirates as de facto President. Under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed, the United Arab Emirates took a more military-focused approach in the region by joining Saudi Arabia. Due to the poor health of Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed had been taking responsibility for many years. Under the supervision of Sheikh Mohammed, the United Arab Emirates has put a man in space and sent a probe to Mars, and also opened its first nuclear reactor.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed AL Nahyan is the third president of the United Arab Emirates. At the age of 61, he took on the responsibilities of the president of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Abu Dhabi. He is considered the strongman leader of an authoritarian regime. The New York Times called him the most sincere and powerful man on Earth.
