At the age of 16, Aanya Rajput, a GEMS Modern Academy student currently pursuing the IBDP, is single-handedly developing one of the first archaeology focused mobile applications in the UAE, blending modern technology with historical research.
With an ambition to bring attention to the relics of UAE’s archaeological undertakings, Aanya is deeply passionate about technology and heritage. Her goal was clear: make archaeology simple, engaging, and fun for children and young adults – all at the touch of their smartphone screens.
The app is designed to come with extensive details pertaining to the archaeological tourist attractions within the UAE including their geographical coordinates, interactive maps, virtual walks, and other relevant educational materials centered on the roots of the UAE so as to readily spark interest among the students.
Proof that impact has no age, Aanya’s project is already creating strong waves in technological circles as well as in heritage circles.
Aanya commented on her project, stating “History shouldn’t be buried in books or behind glass — it should be experienced and explored.”
Her story is realized as evidence that the younger generation nowadays utilize unprecedented strategies their for the marketing and preservation of culture.
